Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Lastner brings over 40 years of global insurance expertise to Academic. His initial involvement with the company started in 2016 as an advisor to the Board on strategic planning. The Board then asked him to lead the organization, effective November 2018, as Chief Restructuring Officer.

With the substantial completion of these restructuring efforts in mid-2020, he was named Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to Academic, Mr. Lastner held senior executive roles in global consulting and publicly traded insurance organizations.

An accounting graduate of Loyola University, Maryland, he is a CPA (inactive). He also completed Columbia University’s School of Business Senior Executive Program under corporate sponsorship.

He is active in various community initiatives including high school lacrosse coaching.
